Overview
A guide for some of the accessibility features available in Apple products, including VoiceOver, AssistiveTouch, Switch Control, Guided Access, and Voice Control. There is also a braille user guide for different types of apple devices.
The information is summarized from the Apple Accessibility Support pages.
Quick Facts
- Apple has built-in accessibility features on their devices.
- VoiceOver is the built-in screen reader available on Macs, iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watch.
- Users can magnify their screen using the Magnifier app (on iPad, iPhone, and iPad touch).
- Apple has AssistiveTouch (on iPad, iPhone, and iPad touch) that you can use to change the volume, lock the screen, use gestures, and much more.
- You can use Switch Control to select, tap, or drag items, type, and draw.
- Guided Access limits the actions you take to a single app (so you won’t accidentally open something else when gesturing).
- Voice Control will let you control your actions on iPad, iPhone, or iPod Touch using your voice.
- macOS provides accessibility shortcuts for users. These include:
- Turn VoiceOver on/off: Command+F5
- Turn zoom (magnification) on/off: Option+Commend+8
- Increase screen contrast: Control+Option+Command+Period (.)
